Massachusetts First-time Home Buyer Classes Sept. 20 & 21, 2014

Sep 16, 2014 8:56:00 AM

Several first-time home buyer programs require borrowers obtain a home-buying certificate in order to qualify for the loan program. MassHousing mortgages, as well as the Massachusetts Housing Partnership ONE Mortgage, require home buyers to participate in a qualified Massachusetts first-time home buyer class.

Massachusetts first-time Home Buyer ClassesBLUE, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, is offering a two-day class, Home Buying 101, at the Eastern Middlesex Association of Realtors in Reading, Massachusetts on September 20th and 21st. Participants who attend both days will receive a home buyer certificate required for MassHousing Mortgage loans.

Rich Rosa, co-founder and co-owner of Buyers Brokers Only, LLC, will be the instructor on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Besides being an experienced and full-time exclusive buyer agent, Rich has been a licensed lawyer from nearly 20 years.  Vince Bertrand, a senior mortgage loan officer with Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, has more than 17 years of experience in the banking industry and will instruct on Sunday, September 21, 2014. A number of important home-buying topics will be covered.

• What exactly are first-time home buyer programs?

• What should home buyers look for at showings?

• Is a deposit the same as a down payment?

• What do home buyers need to know about the closing?

• What's the difference between an offer and purchase and sale agreement?

Whether someone needs a home-buying certificate or not, participants in the Home Buying 101 class will receive expert advice that will make them a better, more-informed home buyer.
