Should Boston area listing agents schedule open houses the same time as a New England Patriots game?
The Massachusetts Association of Realtors asks members a "hot topic" question each month. The October hot topic question asked Realtors whether they schedule their open houses around those times when the New England Patriots have a football game.
Of those Realtors – not every real estate agent is a Realtor – who responded, 64 percent do not schedule open houses when the New England Patriots play. Those 64 percent include 4 percent who avoid all Sundays during football season; 20 percent who avoid Sundays when the Patriots are playing; and 40 percent who schedule their open houses either before or after Patriots games. Thirty-seven percent of the respondents schedule open houses when it is most convenient for the client, even if it’s during the game.
What do you think? In this competitive Boston area real estate market, is an open house during a Patriots game an opportunity for homebuyers to find a home that less people have seen? Will you miss a New England Patriots game to go to an open house?
