The average interest rate for a 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage loan continued to decline last week, according to Freddie Mac's Primary Mortgage Market Survey.
Freddie Mac reported January 23, 2014 that the 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage averaged 3.63 percent in the U.S. for the week ending January 22, 2015, the lowest average interest rate since it was 3.59 percent the week ending May 23, 2013. The average interest rate was 3.66 percent the previous week and 4.39 percent during the same week last year.
The average interest rate for a 15-year, fixed-rate mortgage was 2.93 percent compared to 3.44 percent a year ago.
