Shrewsbury, MA Single-family Home Prices Increase 16.9% Since 2009

It has been a bumpy ride, but median price of a single-family home in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts has increased nearly 17 percent from 2009 through 2013, according to data compiled from MLS Property Information Network, Inc.

The median home price dropped from 2009 to 2010, increased in 2011, declined in 2012 and rose again in 2013. 

In 2009, the median price of a single-family home in Shrewsbury, MA was $331,500. Since then, the prices increased by 20 percent in 2010, dropped by a cumulative 12.5 percent by 2012, and ultimately climbed 10.7 percent in 2013. By 2013, the median price was $387,750, an overall 16.9 percent increase over the five-year period. Median prices for each year were as follows:

2013: $387,750

Since 2009, the annual number of single-family homes sold in Shrewsbury has also varied. The least number of homes sold in a year was 259 in 2011, and home sales peaked at 376 in 2013. The most expensive single family home sold from 2009 through 2013 was $1,900,000 in 2011.

According to MLS PIN, the median price for a condominium in Shrewsbury also fluctuated from 2009 through 2013, reaching its peak in 2010 at $270,000. After the annual median price climbed by 40 percent in 2010, it dropped by 9.2 percent in 2011. The price ultimately increased by 10.8 percent in 2013 to $258,000 from $230,000. The median condo price for each year was as follows:

The number of condominiums sold in Shrewsbury from 2009 through 2013 increased. In both 2009 and 2010, there were 68 condos sold. By 2013, this number increased to 101 condo sales. The most expensive condo sold in Shrewsbury over the past five years was $801,775 in 2009.
